In your campaign
Play as your character
When the GM starts a match, each player can bring one of their characters. The seat shows the portrait, and a game's values can be linked to the character: gold, inspiration and other values start from the sheet, change it as you play, and pick up edits made on the sheet during the match.
D&D 5e and Pathfinder 2e are supported directly (see Pathfinder 2e). Other systems use the any system adapter, where you point values at the sheet's fields.
What cards can do to characters
Game makers can give cards and actions these effects (in the builder's Dice & characters group):
- Roll dice:
2d6+1,4d6kh3,1d20 + {var.self.bonus}; the roll is posted to chat. - Ask for a character check: the player rolls with their own character and the system's own roll dialog (Deception, a saving throw…), or types the total of real dice. With a DC, the game knows if it succeeded.
- Change hit points: heal or damage the character; damage takes temporary hit points first.
- Give or remove a condition: poisoned, prone, frightened, blinded and the rest of the system's status effects. For systems whose conditions have a number (Pathfinder's Frightened 2), give it a Value.
- Set initiative: put the character at a place in the current combat.
Each of these also gets a line in chat ("Mara heals 7 hit points (Second Wind)").
Initiative from cards
Start a combat, then press Draw initiative cards in the Combat tracker: every combatant is dealt a card and the tracker fills in. Higher cards go first; a joker acts whenever its holder likes. Fresh cards are dealt every round (a setting turns this off).
Tarot, fate and the tavern
- Oracle deals one card, Past · Present · Future or a Celtic Cross, with reversed cards and each position labelled. Save to journal writes the reading with every card's meaning.
- Fate Deck: at a turning point a player draws a fate that heals, hurts, curses or twists the story for their character.
- Tavern Gambit: a bluffing game played for the characters' real gold, with a Deception check to sell the bluff.
