Sharing games and decks

Packs

A pack (.bcepack) is one file with everything needed to play in another world: games, their cards, decks, and every picture they use from your world's files.

Export

  • A game: match manager → Games, the box button on the game. Fill in the name, author, version and a description, tick any decks to include, and Download pack.
  • A deck: Decks, the box button on the deck. Its game goes along too, unless it's a built-in game everyone already has.

Import

  • Games → Import pack or Decks → Import pack, and pick the file. A preview shows what's inside and what will happen:
    • a game you don't have is added;
    • a newer version of a game you have updates it (matches in progress keep their rules);
    • the same or an older version leaves yours alone;
    • decks are added to your decks, attached to their game.
  • The pictures are copied into bce-packs/<pack name>/ in your Foundry data (PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF only, up to 8 MB each, each under a fresh name).
  • Only the GM can import packs that contain games; players can import decks.

Safe to open

Games are data, not code: importing a pack can't run anything on your computer or in your world. Rules text is cleaned before it's shown, rule formulas can't reach anything outside the game, and a pack that claims to be smaller than it is gets stopped. Still, only import packs from people you trust, as you would any content.

Art from other modules or systems isn't copied into a pack (it isn't yours to share): the preview lists it, and whoever imports the pack needs that module too.

Deck codes

For a quick share in chat:

  • Decks → the share button on a deck copies a code starting with BCE2:.
  • Others press Paste a code on their Decks tab. They need the same game in their world.
  • In the deck builder, Deck code and Load code do the same inside an open deck.

Codes carry the cards, sideboard, commander and the deck's own cards, but not uploaded art (it would make the code far too long). Use a pack for that.

Selling what you make

Games, cards and decks you make are yours: you can share them freely or sell them, as long as you don't include the module's own code. Buyers need Blob's Card Engine to play them.
